Rio Terrace Parent Advisory Circular

The Rio Terrace Parent Advisory Council is a parent fundraising committee at an elementary school. They needed to distribute a printed flyer to every home within a geographic distance of the school. This came at the end of a 3-year fundraising campaign for a new playground structure. The copy needed to generate a surge of donations to reach a set dollar amount in a set time.

My copy expands on the benefits that a new playground would bring to the resident rather than focusing on the school population. Clear advantages to the reader build a feeling that they will themselves benefit from this donation.

Rio Terrace Parent Advisory Council Newsletter Article

The Rio Terrace Parent Advisory Council is a parent fundraising committee at an elementary school. They needed copy for a 1-page article to include in a printed community newsletter. The article was to focus on a changed construction plan as well as announce a recently awarded grant. The committee also wanted to advertise various fundraising opportunities.

So much information to include in the limited amount of space required clear and direct copy. Careful word selection and only essential information kept the article short. Succinct facts encourage reading the whole article. Any descriptive or emotional language was limited to persuading the reader to donate.

Magazine Ad

Covergirl TrueYou Match (SPEC AD)

A one-page magazine ad to announce a new product line and increase its sales. Needed to use Covergirl’s iconic brand identity. The ad also needed to highlight the product’s unique characteristics.

The final copy emphasizes that this new lipstick will enhance the wearer’s beauty. This reaches the emotional desire of many women to be accepted for who they are. Alliterative phrasing and frequent references to the reader channel the Covergirl brand voice.
